He was born into a middle-class family. From an early age, he had a speech disability. He struggled with this in his childhood and at the beginning of his career. His stuttering caused him a lot of pain. Due to his looks and limited ability to speak, he was constantly bullied and teased. Due to this, he became timid and withdrawn. The rejections left him feeling lonely, as he didn’t have many friends.

He had a great interest in science. He decided to pursue a career in this field. One of his teachers commented that, “Nothing is outstanding about him. I really don’t expect him to become a fantastic scientist.” He proved everyone wrong when he got accepted to Oxford University.

He realized acting was something he really wanted to do after completing his Master’s degree. So he pursued his dream of becoming an actor. As a result of his stammering, he was unable to enroll in a comedy group. Rowan found it extremely difficult to overcome this barrier. Despite several hardships, he never gave up on himself. He auditioned for several TV shows but was rejected repeatedly. In addition to his stammering problems, he was constantly rejected because he did not have a good face or a grand body.

His stammering made him unattractive to many TV shows, so he tried his luck with acting. However, he never lost faith in himself. He realized soon that whenever he played any character, he could speak fluently. While playing a character other than himself, his stammering disappeared.  Despite this, he kept on getting rejected since he didn’t have a beautiful face or a heroic body.

He proved everyone wrong by starting his own show, Mr. Bean, which was a global success. Rowan Atkinson is one of the most famous celebrities of all time today.
