Keep Your Dreams in Focus

There’s no doubt that focus is one of the key skills to success and achieving your dreams;

Your productivity will be low and you will make little progress toward your goals without it. You will also produce work that is nowhere near the quality it should be.

Thus, the question is how can you stay focused on your dreams?

Keep Thinking of the Big Picture

Even if you love what you do, there’s always going to be a part you find tedious, and find hard to focus on. People often lead themselves astray on these parts of their passions, and struggle to stay focused.

If you find yourself going through a boring time or dealing with a mundane task that seems impossible to handle, just remember the big picture you hold inside your mind. All of your efforts contribute to that big picture.

Create a daily routine

It’s extremely difficult to get out of a habit once it becomes second nature to you, regardless of whether it’s a lazy habit or not.

The importance of a daily routine that includes what you need to do instead of what you would do when you have nothing else to do is crucial for staying focused on your dreams and making progress every day.

Creating a daily routine can help you incorporate what’s important, one thing at a time. You can start it all at once if you wish, but it’ll make it much harder to stick to it in the long run.

Plan what’s important first

It’s the big tasks that produce the biggest results and progress that matter most.

Nevertheless, they’re also the most difficult and grueling tasks. When managing your workload, always focus on the most important tasks first, no matter how big or small. They’re quick and easy to complete, and they’re still rewarding. If you’re planning out your workload, prioritize what’s important first, regardless of how big or small it is. Then you can focus on the simpler tasks.

Make Use of the Word No

Successful people know how to use the word ‘no’.

They can be asked for favors or asked to do something, but they have the discipline to say no. So they don’t get set back in their quest to live their dreams, they must focus on what they need to get done.

If you find yourself tempted to do unproductive things, teach yourself the discipline of saying ‘no’, so that you can progress quickly towards your goals and not get sidetracked by unimportant distractions.

Don’t forget why you started

It’s likely that you’ve been working so hard for so long, likely with not many results coming your way, that you’ve completely forgotten what made you start in the first place.

As soon as you set out to do something, the reasons behind it are fresh in your mind. You understand them clearly.

Eventually, if you put in all your work and get no results, those reasons become jaded, and you need to go back to that point, when you had a clear vision of what you wanted to achieve.

Run away from something

You may find this subheading a bit odd at first, but listen to me. Running away from something is much easier than running towards it.

We already know what we’re running from and the place we’ve been, whereas whatever we’re running towards we still don’t know quite what it’s like, and we don’t really have as much to lose.

Think about it; in one scenario you’re running from a wolf while in another you’re running toward a million dollars. You may have experienced what it was like to homeless, poor, lazy, skinny, overweight, lifeless. If you keep those points in mind as a main source of motivation, you will stay motivated.
